One Stormy Night

I am hearing laughter
before the fall of rain

I am hoping for peace
before it storms again

O Restless Night, be still
so I may transcend pain.

Today I heard about a storm outside Plum Village, the beautiful retreat in France where Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh lives.
Here is a clip of his teaching on mindfulness in his own words. Listen for a few minutes if you can, for peace in your storm.

Another beautiful poem which prompts the question: Is rain the negative element here? Is a storm the harbinger of doom? :-)

I might be playing the devil's advocate here but ever since I read 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' by the Czech writer Milan Kundera I have been paying more attention to symbols and their meaning and the context in which they are used.

I loved the last line :-).

Greetings from London.

It is amazing how things, and people, come to you when you need them most. Thank you, thank you for this peaceful and enlightening post which I so needed today. His soothing voice and insightful words, along with your poetry, has already caused a change in me. I feel rejuvenated! And thank you for your visit too.
Best wishes,
Catherine

Dear Catherine, I am so glad Thay helped you today. He is a wonderful teacher, and his smiling eyes are so full of warm intelligence that you can't help feeling compassion towards yourself and others.
I am quite shy about blogging as I don't like to impose anything on anyone, so it is very reassuring to have writers like yourself, Willow and Cuban guiding me on.
May a thousand clapping hands guide you on too.

Thich Nhat Hahn is amazing, thank you for this. I'm also a great fan of Pema Chodron. Both of them are so powerful.

Sorry to learn that you're dealing with Lupus. Very glad to know you're out there, though, and especially that you're writing and working in community.

A phone sangha? That really is cool.

Ok, I soooOOooOOOo....love her. She is my hero. You're so right...she is very inspirational. I read her book like 5 months ago and it's just moving. It's just so sad. After that I just did a bunch of research on her and she did a lot of great things and saved a lot of girls from those nasty brothels. I love her. Thanks for the comment Shiata.
