In the Dappled Shade of Home
The cherry tree
protected me
from a too cheerful sun
and a very merry wind
that threatened
to send me in -
I wish I was
that fat blackbird
that king of the tree,
feasting.
But I don't care.
What I am
is air,
the changing colour
of light;
What I am
is fragile goods
packaged in skin
slowly
coming right.
