We make our way
We make our way
down dusty roads
to oases
where green pastures
await our souls
and love reminds us
we have miles within
and love reminds us
we have miles within.
- Shaista, 2011
a travelling poem for Gordon Ramsundar, who crossed over from earth to sky, and left only love behind. And for my brother and sister, travelling back from famine and drought and the revolutionary spirits of Somalia and Cairo... home to oases of love.

refreshing to read ~
like these lines:
"and love reminds us
we have miles within"
shaista one of the greatest gifts i've received is to know that love has no measure! thankyou for this beautiful start to the day. steven
I love the idea of "miles within" us.
the echo in this is effective...you set a nice tone and the 'miles within' is a great touch...
Loved.
So beautiful and heart-filling. The thought of the man crossing over from earth to sky.....and of your brother and sister traveling back from the suffering they have seen, coming home to oases of love. You have such a bright and shining spirit, Shaista. You inspire us. Keep shining your beautiful light!
a beautiful tribute for your loved ones. blessings and safe travels to them all. love the repeated lines at the end. really makes an impact for me - almost echo-like
Shaista, i don't know what exactly the perfect word to this describe this poem but i must say this: i was inspired and moved by your simple lines.. the repetitions are very effective and meaningful... you always inspire..thank you and you have a lovely day.. God bless you and your family!(:

Shaista, a high percentage of my time and words written always falls back on mentioning how 'love' is the link or connection to the calm and peace of 'tao' or between that of what we see and know and then the 'other'.
You speak with such simple and impassioned deft. "...love reminds us we have miles withing".
Hope you have at least one moment of calm and peace, touching the edges of love, today.
I love that line, miles within too.
You, dear Shaista, are my oases
"And love reminds us we have miles within"
This is so beautiful!!
I am so thankful (I really am) that your brother and his fiancee chose to come to Egypt during such times :) I feel like it's a personal favor.
That was absolutely lovely and heart-full. Thank you for sharing it.
may i please have your postal address shaista?
